Support and Services

Looked After Children

We provide secure and safe care when children cannot live with their family of origin. Our job is also to ensure that young people who are leaving care are provided with personal and practical support and advice to improve their life chances as they take responsibility for their future.

LISA Service

We are a central team that is here to support and train colleagues in information sharing, the use of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and preparation for ContactPoint.

We run a helpdesk that provides consultation for practitioners to help identify and assess the needs of children as a 'Team Around a Child' and provide services to improve children's health and well being.

Fostering

We provides assessment, support and training for foster carers, working closely with other services in Children's Social Care to match children with foster carers and promote the child's welfare.

Throughout the process, the well being of the children is our top priority.

Business Management, Placements & Procurement and Fostering

We have a Business Management Team that exists to ensure the separate functions within our Children's Social Care division operate effectively.

With a strong focus on improving outcomes, we are here to ensure that resources are aligned to priorities. We also oversee all support functions within Children's Social Care.

There are four teams which are directly managed under this heading:

  • Finance Process
  • Placements & Procurement
  • Fostering

Adoption

Finding the right home for children who are being adopted is paramount to us.

Our Adoption team therefore works closely with all of Lewisham's other Children's Social Care services to ensure they achieve the best 'match' between children and their adoptive families.

We also provide assessment, support and training for adopters to make sure they are ready to adopt.

Leaving Care

Lewisham's Leaving Care Service is a vibrant and diverse, multi-disciplinary team undertaking dynamic, innovative work with over 400 young people.
